Most of the Seminar will take place in the Bavendick Stateroom on the 4th floor of the NECE building.
Fees/Admission
Since space is limited at this popular event, a $60 deposit is required to reserve your spot in the seminar. Your application will not be considered complete until your deposit is received. The deposit will be returned upon check-in at the seminar. The deposit is refundable for cancellations through May 1 only. If you should have to cancel after May 1, you will forfeit your deposit.
Teachers may incur transportation costs to and from the Seminar. The Lignite Energy Council provides housing and most meals during the Seminar. Continuing education credits are paid for by the Lignite Energy Council.
A limited block of housing is available in the BSC residence halls, and a travel stipend is available for out-of-state educators. Housing is full. If your application indicates need for housing, you will be put on a waitlist.

Description
General Information:
On June 10-14, 2024, the Lignite Energy Council will conduct an education seminar for elementary and secondary teachers from the upper midwest, with teachers from Iowa, Minnesota, Montana, Nebraska, South Dakota and North Dakota encouraged to apply and attend.Participants can receive two free graduate professional development credits from the University of North Dakota, North Dakota State University, or Minot State University (S/U grading only). Educators who have taken the course in the past are eligible to apply and attend again (restrictions apply).
Teachers will leave the seminar with the information and educational materials they need to teach their students about how lignite is mined and used to produce electricity for homes, farms and businesses in the Upper Midwest. In addition, the seminar covers lignite?s economic impact on the region as well as important environmental issues affecting the lignite industry.
Since 1986, more than 3,500 teachers have attended the Lignite Energy Council's teacher education seminar.
